The 1936 playful classic PETER AND THE WOLF, by Sergel Prokofiev, is brought to life through highly-theatrical yet non-traditional choreography featuring all styles of dance designed by YPW Program Director, Michael Blevins.
PETER AND THE WOLF is the story of a young boy who ventures out into the meadow by the lake, against his grandfather’s orders, to catch a wolf. Along the way, he is joined by his friends the bird, the duck and the cat. The wolf is also being chased by the best hunters in the village. All the fun comes to end, however, when the wolf makes an appearance. Will the brave Peter, and his animal friends, accompanied by the hunters live to tell of their adventure and become the heros of the village? This fully danced and musical adaptation of Prokofiev's masterpiece, in which every character is represented musically by a different instrument. is a favorite theatre concert among young and old viewers alike.
Drawing inspiration from popular culture and various types of music, the second part of this concert-in-movement features numerous OTHER DANCE STORIES also told through tap, jazz, modern, ballet and theatre dance creations by Blevins for a full evening of solid dance.
